Firmware 4.2 Preloaded On PSP-3000

by Mike Bendel on October 6, 2008 @ 10:40 am

According to a Eurogamer hands-on session with the PSP-3000, which is scheduled for a worldwide release next week, the unit comes with firmware 4.20 preloaded. The updated system software revision includes a “USB Auto-Connect” option, which automatically begins charging the PSP within the XMB when a USB cable is inserted. Elsewhere, a “Color Space” setting has added to the firmware. When activated, it allows users to take advantage of the enhanced LCD screen found in the PSP-3000 to display more vivid colors.

Interestingly, the hardware ships with a smaller AC adapter unit – one that does away with the black box power pack and actually can fit in your pocket.

Have you tried it?

Coz it doesn't start USB mode when u plug-in USB, not at all.

Altho, we got this feature on CFE:D

So does this mean the rest of us will be getting 4.2 next week?

and

Would the Color space setting do anything for those of use with psp 1 or 2000s?

Because if not I seriously doubt Dark Alex will be any more encouraged to create the next custom firmware

x3sphere says:

Maybe. It might not be 4.2, though. When the Slim debuted it came preloaded with 3.60 which was never released in EBOOT form. 3.70 was released a couple weeks after the Slim came out. So that being said, we might see 4.3 or something to that effect shortly after the 3000 launches.

I'm thinking the USB Auto-Connect option will be available to Slim owners in the next firmware. The Color Space setting probably won't though.
