PSP Devolution Update

by Mike Bendel on April 9, 2007 @ 12:12 pm

New information has surfaced regarding a new PSP mod chip known as the PSP Devolution. Resellers will begin receiving the chip on April 16th, with shipping to begin soon after. The mod now features 4 layer technology, resulting in a much smaller and easier to install chip.

Unlike the UP, the PSP Devolution is compatible with TA-082 and TA-086 units and will be able to completely unbrick your PSP in case of a software failure.

Is there any news on the price of this one. because the U.P. modchip is to expensive for me

x3sphere says:

no price announced yet, hope it costs less though .. UP was way overpriced for what it did. Chip + install was basically the cost of a new PSP.

Roe says:

Have they got some sort of website so I can find out more of what it can do.

x3sphere says:

yea, http://psp-devolution.com

Roe says:

Not giving much more info than you gave. But i'm looking forward to it coming out. It looks promising

Darkchild says:

I have observed something interesting about this modchip, is it me or it doesn't require soldering?

Roe says:

x3sphere says:

I checked the site, seems it has been delayed .. still set for release this week though

they also mention two different versions - before it was assumed to be a universal chip:

Roe says:

OK thanks x3sphere wiil you keep us updated on it's progress

Roe says:

Still no more news on this thing are you sure it's even real

x3sphere says:

It's real.. the chip is done, I know someone that already has it. No resellers have it yet though.. hopefully we'll hear something by Monday.
