LucasArts announced today that its 22nd-century highly destructible shooter Fracture will hit the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace in the form of a playable demo on September 18.

The demo will highlight a key game mechanic dubbed “Terrain Deformation,” which allows for real-time creation of on-the-fly cover and geographic manipulation.

The full version of Fracture is slated for a retail release on October 7 in North America, with a European launch following on the 10th.
