Sony Calls Shenanigans On PS2 PSN Downloads
by Mike Bendel on July 1, 2008 @ 12:34 pm

Yesterday, a photo hit the tubes showing off downloadable PS2 titles on the PlayStation Store. Forum goer NiTiZ claimed it was taken by a friend at Sony London, but SCEA PR manager Patrick Seybold has since stepped up to rubbish these claims, simply calling the image a “mock-up” and issuing a statement saying that the company has no plans to digitally release PS2 titles.
I’m not sure where the image came from. At this point, we haven’t made any announcements, and there are no plans for PS2 downloadable titles on PS3.
Standard PR response. Eventually, yes, I’d say it’s almost a given that we will see PS2 titles on PSN. Most likely won’t be at this year’s E3 though, taking Seybold’s statement into account.
