Kirby's Adventure

This past week we saw the launch of the Virtual Console on the Wii U. The initial lineup includes six NES games and two SNES games. Each of the former is priced at $4.99, with the exception of Kirby’s Adventure, which you can currently snag for 30 cents. The two titles in the SNES collection will run you $7.99 apiece. The following is the list of NES titles followed by the two SNES classics:

  • Balloon Fight
  • Donkey Kong Jr.
  • Excitebike
  • Ice Climber
  • Kirby’s Adventure
  • Punch-Out!!
  • F-Zero
  • Super Mario World

If you’ve already purchased these Virtual Console games before, you can upgrade to the Wii U versions. NES games can be upgraded for $1 while SNES game upgrades come with a $1.50 fee. Doing so will grant you customizable controls, GamePad support, restore points, and Miiverse integration.

Admittedly, this Wii U Virtual Console launch lineup isn’t incredibly jaw-dropping. Sure, titles such as Super Mario World, Punch-Out!!, and F-Zero are superb, and Kirby’s Adventure is one of my favorite games of all time, but it would’ve been cool if Nintendo made more retro titles available. At least we have the legendary cult classic Earthbound to look forward to!
