EA: ‘We Are Committed to Fixing Our Mistakes’

EA’s Peter Moore has taken to the good ol’ internet to announce that the company fully intends on redeeming itself for its blunders as of late. In a post on the company blog, the COO responded to the publisher being voted the worst company in America last year, saying that things will get better, and that a lot of the criticisms toward the company are complete balderdash.
“This is the same poll that last year judged us as worse than companies responsible for the biggest oil spill in history, the mortgage crisis, and bank bailouts that cost millions of taxpayer dollars,” said Moore. ” The complaints against us last year were our support of SOPA (not true), and that they didn’t like the ending to Mass Effect 3.”
Moore went on to list a few criticisms that he feels are entirely unjust on the part of detractors, such as many individuals’ lack of enthusiasm for Origin, the always-on DRM fiasco surrounding SimCity, and the negative reaction to micro-transactions. The COO also expressed frustration at the fact that some people sent angry mail to EA in regards to its games allowing players to create gay and lesbian characters. Okay, so he’s right about that being a pretty stupid complaint — people should be able to build whatever character they want, be it heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, transgender, and so on.
I for one really hope EA addresses the concerns and issues that many individuals have had with its policies. The fact remains that a lot of the decisions made by the publisher have warranted a fair amount of justified criticism. We’ll have to wait and see what EA does to fix its mistakes down the road.
