PS3 to Cure Disease

by Mike Bendel on March 15, 2007 @ 1:18 pm

SCE is teaming up with Stanford University to create a distributed computing network of PS3s to help study the causes of a number of diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, Cystic fibrosis and many cancers.

You can start participating as soon as the next PS3 firmware hits, which is expected sometime this month and will include a new Folding@home icon for the cross media bar. To join, you just click the icon and schedule your PS3 to help the fight against cancer whenever the console is idle.

This is cutting edge. :) what if our ps3 join collectively and see humans as the larger cancer?

Then my ps3 could rule the world~~~

seriously though... imagine after the cancer is conquered what else this mega computing platform could achieve.

i believe that SETA offer a similar program on their site that allows your computer to do work while idle as well.
