Microsoft Bringing Age of Empires II HD Exclusively to Steam

Yes, you read that right – in conjunction with developer Hidden Path, Microsoft is bringing RTS classic Age of Empires II exclusively to Steam – and it’s also receiving the HD treatment. The title is due out April 9 officially, though those who pre-purchase at the 10% discount will get it earlier on April 5. Maybe there is some credence to those rumors of the Halo franchise landing on Steam after all, eh?

Included is the entire single-player campaign from Age of Kings and the Conquerors expansion. It’ll feature full support for the Steamworks API, meaning leaderboards, achievements, matchmaking, and the ability to share user created content such as custom maps through Valve’s Steam Workshop.
