Ueda Supervising Development of The Last Guardian, But Still No Launch Info

It’s started to become a bit awkward talking about The Last Guardian. This is a game that comes up in the news every so often, but as of the last few updates, nothing major has been revealed. Hell, you could say that the last few rounds of Last Guardian news have been almost entirely identical. Case in point: Designer Fumito Ueda recently said that he’s still overlooking development of the game, but didn’t have any launch window details.
“While it’s been a long time coming, The Last Guardian remains under my creative supervision and is still in development by an incredibly talented team,” explained Ueda. “I should also mention that details regarding The Last Guardian‘s release is solely decided by Sony Computer Entertainment, not myself. Please keep an eye out for their official announcement.”
Whether that last line is meant to play a bit of foreshadowing for a near future announcement by Sony (here’s hoping), it could very well be a standard way of ending the statement. Ueda previously revealed that he had left Sony to pursue new ventures in the game development spectrum. That said, he has remained on the Last Guardian dev team as a freelance designer and creative supervisor.
It’s hard to tell where Sony will take this anticipated project at this point. Who knows, we might even see it announced during Sony’s upcoming press event. That would be cool.
