Unsurprisingly, the exclusive Star Wars deal that Namco Bandai lined up with LucasArts is extending beyond the bounds of Yoda and Darth Vader, as the company today announced that Darth Vader’s Secret Apprentice will debut as a playable character in Soulcalibur IV.

“We are honored to be debuting Lord Vader’s Secret Apprentice in Soulcalibur IV,” said Todd Thorson, Director of Marketing and Public Relations, NAMCO BANDAI Games America. “The Secret Apprentice adds to the depth and excitement the Soulcalibur franchise is known to deliver; proving to be another formidable opponent in the quest to obtain the mighty Soul swords.”

For those not clued in on the latest Star Wars revelations, the Secret Apprentice is set to appear in LucasArts’ forthcoming title The Force Unleashed, which is slated for a September 16 release on nearly every platform under the sun. Soulcalibur IV, on the other hand, hits retailers July 29 for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Screenshots showcasing the unnamed apprentice fellow in action can be found after the jump.

I really love how they're staying true to his unique back-hand style that we see him use in Force Unleashed.

I mean when you think about it, there was only so many ways they could give the "bad guy" a new look...Darth Maul got the dual-saber, Dooku had his unique fencing-style, and we've already seen the standard one handed red saber. They added a nice look by having him wield it back handed which I think will translate well to SC4

Also, he looks much younger here now that we see him more up close. A little less menacing as well. *shrug*
