Thompson Flees Court Hearing, Bar Asks For Enhanced Disbarment

by Mike Bendel on June 4, 2008 @ 2:33 pm

Outspoken anti-violent video game activist and Florida lawyer Jack Thompson walked out of the courtroom after being refused to read his lengthy objection during court.

The hearing was scheduled with Judge Tunis to discuss possible sanctions against the embattled attorney. Despite Thompson’s stunt, the court proceedings continued as planned, with the Bar issuing a recommendation of “enhanced disbarment.” If the recommendation is carried out, Thompson would be prevented from practicing law for ten years.

In his 14-page objection to the June 4 hearing, Thompson labels Tunis as incompetent and makes a threat, noting that he will succeed in removing her from office “in the days and weeks ahead.”
