Over at the official SOCOM website, community manager David Brothers has announced that Sony is planning to kick off a public beta test for upcoming PlayStation 3 title SOCOM: Confrontation later this summer.

According to Brothers, access to the beta will be granted to subscribers of Sony’s forthcoming Qore service, which essentially is an online magazine that offers exclusive game demos, as well as a behind-the-scenes look at various PlayStation titles.

For those not interested in signing-up for Qore, fans will also be able to get in on the beta through a pre-sell promotion with certain retail partners, which Sony has yet to announce details on.
