It’s official. SEGA today announced and confirmed that it has inked a definitive partnership with Japan-based studio PlatinumGames. Under the agreement, SEGA will initially publish three original titles – Madworld, Infinite Line and Bayonetta. A fourth, yet-to-named title directed by Resident Evil/Biohazard series creator Shinji Mikami is also in the works.

Madworld, scheduled for Q1 2009 release exclusively on Wii, is a “hyper-violent” third-person action game sporting a stylish monochromatic visual style.

Space-based RPG Infinite Line is currently in development for the Nintendo DS. Along with a cast of 200 characters, the game is said to feature emphasis on customization, with players invited to build and control over 150 spaceships.

Bayonetta is a fact-paced action game that promises to push the genre to its limits. Directed by Devil May Cry series creator Hideki Kamiya, the game is set for a release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2009.
