Hirai: PS3 Struggled In Its First Year

Slowly but surely, the PlayStation 3 is coming into its own with the release of high-profile titles such as Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and Uncharted, but let’s fast-forward to early last year. Back then Sony’s console wasn’t doing so well. The PS3 was being subjected to a great deal of negative press for its high price point and how difficult the system was to program for, among other things. Sony head honcho Kaz Hirai, after a whole year, is finally admitting that they made numerous mistakes:
I think it’s fair to say that the first year of PlayStation 3 was somewhat a difficult one. There were some teething problems, success from our competitors, and our customers were a little underwhelmed by the range of titles that were available.
This is something that we’re very much aware of, and something we were always confident we could overcome.
Good to see that Sony is losing much of the arrogance and overall stubborn attitude they displayed last year.
