Fuck Casual Gaming, Says Rockstar’s Houser

Let it be known: Outspoken Rockstar Games founder Dan Houser is no fan of casual gaming. Speaking in an interview with New York Magazine, he reaffirmed Rockstar’s commitment to deliver big-budget video games that challenge movies as an art form. While Houser does give credit to the Wii for its success, he does not carry a keen interest in casual games, as you’ll find out in the quote below.
“Yeah, fuck all this stuff about casual gaming,” said Houser. “I think people still want games that are groundbreaking,” he added. “The Wii is doing something totally different, which is fantastic. We’re hopefully going to prove that there’s also a very big audience for people who want entertainment in another form, who think of games as being a narrative device that can challenge movies.”
