CES 2013: Nvidia Unveils Project SHIELD Handheld
by January 7, 2013 @ 1:03 pm

Nvidia has announced its latest endeavor, a gaming handheld currently dubbed Project SHIELD. From the looks of it, the SHIELD features a full-sized controller with standard analog sticks, a D-pad, face buttons, and shoulder buttons. It also has a five-inch screen that can display games in 720p.
The SHIELD can run both Android and PC games, giving it access to quite the vast library. The system uses Wi-Fi to provide “ultra-low latency” access to users’ Steam libraries. It should be pointed out that the SHIELD is compatible with PCs suited with a GeForce GTX.
As far as its portability is concerned, it seems as though the SHIELD is designed for individuals who want to play their PC games while away from the computer but still within their household. As far as the Android stuff is concerned, that seems to offer more of an on-the-go experience.
I suppose now we need to be asking what type of consumers this handheld is really for.
