Animal Crossing New Leaf

Animal Crossing: New Leaf is apparently very popular in Japan. The game launched for the 3DS on November 8 and has since surpassed the 2 million sales mark, quickly besting other hit titles such as Mario Kart 7, Monster Hunter 3G, New Super Mario Bros. 2, and Super Mario 3D Land, reports Tiny Cartridge.

It’s interesting that this quirky town management sim was able to reach a such a great number of sales in under two months. I suppose you could say part of the reason is because franchises like Animal Crossing are popular in Japan. You could also say, however, that Animal Crossing is just a well-made, addictive, and enjoyable series.

The last time I played an Animal Crossing game was back in 2005 when Wild World launched on the original DS. I ended up spending countless hours playing that game, visiting my small talking animal-infested town every day for several months. Hey, New Leaf, hurry up and launch in North America, will ya?! Ugh … 2013 couldn’t come soon enough.
