God Mode

I don’t know about all of you, but I am absolutely enamored with silly games. That’s why I’m seriously stoked for the upcoming Atlus-published third-person shooter God Mode which was recently detailed on IGN. The game is due out on out Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC in early 2013 and will feature some pretty absurd themes, such as the heavily armed skeleton fellow seen above.

God Mode is being developed by Old School Games and Saber Interactive. This is quite the shift for Atlus who is mostly known for working on Japanese titles. Despite the fact that this is indeed a western game, I’d like to point out that there’s a bit of a Japanese quality as far as craziness is concerned. I mean, you play as a descendant of a god (and you’re a skeleton), and you need to navigate through the Maze of Hades. That sounds so stupid that I love it!

As far as mechanics and gameplay are concerned, God Mode will feature destructible environments and weapon upgrades. Enemy combat has been compared to Serious Sam and the horde modes that we’ve seen in different variations across many titles. Additionally, there will also be four-player co-op because insanity is always a lot cooler with other folks.

Specific launch details haven’t been revealed but God Mode is expected to sport a $10 price tag when it releases digitally next year.
