Randy Pitchford really digs the Wii U GamePad, it seems. Speaking to Joystiq, the Gearbox Software President said that its upcoming title Aliens: Colonial Marines would feature exclusive functions specific to the controller.

“This is the best controller Nintendo’s ever made for making an FPS,” said Pitchford. “This is the best controller Nintendo has ever given us for playing hardcore games.”

The Gearbox pres explained that the entire team was excited about the Wii U features on the GamePad, such as the in-game motion tracker and map. Additionally, he went on to say that the device was “perfect for Aliens.”

It’s interesting to see Gearbox in such high favor of the Wii U, and it’s obvious that the studio wants to take advantage of the hardware. It’ll be interesting seeing future Gearbox projects on the platform, especially FPS titles.
