id Software Says Rage Mod Tools Coming After a Year of ‘Poor Decisions’

Despite the fact that Rage didn’t launch with modding tools as expected, developer id Software has stated that this feature will be available. Founder John Carmack addressed the situation on Twitter, expressing disappointment over the lack of attention on Rage and its modding software from the developer.

BFG work pushed the Rage tools, but Real Soon Now. I hope. Sigh. I think we have made poor decisions on this all year,” tweeted Carmack.

I don’t imagine that too many people are particularly stoked about this news. After all, Rage didn’t exactly fare very well in terms of sales, and the PC version in particular launched with a plethora of bugs. Still, if you’ve been patiently waiting for the modding tools, you might not have to wait too long. Though what you’re probably actually waiting for from id is titled Doom 4.

Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed Rage and thought it was a hell of an FPS from a developer that knows how to create exactly that. It’s a shame that the game never took off, but I suppose that kind of thing happens when people are expecting something different and then get a straight-up FPS.
