Mechromancer Makes Her Way to Borderlands 2 Today

Gaige the Mechromancer was scheduled to hit Borderlands 2 next week, but it looks like Gearbox Software wants fans to play as the fifth character a tad early. Gearbox President Randy Pitchford announced via Twitter that the Mechromancer class type would be available starting today. “So – here’s the surprise, Mechromancer for Borderlands 2 is ready about a week earlier than I promised. Oct 9, all platforms. Woo!”

“Woo” indeed, Mr. Pitchford. “Woo” indeed. If you’ve already played through Borderlands 2 and wish to switch things up a bit, you can now play as the Mechromancer. If you’ve yet to play the game at all but intend on doing so, well, you’ve now got one more option right from the get-go, which is certainly nice.

The charming redheaded character is available now on Xbox 360 and PC for 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99, respectively. The downloadable protagonist will go live for PlayStation 3 later today. If you’re part of the Premiere Club as a result of pre-ordering the game, the Mechromancer will be a free download.

Time for some more Borderlands 2!
