Sony’s Koller Says Company Has a 10-Year Plan for PS Vita

Sony seems to love its 10-year hardware plans. The PlayStation 2 had a 10-year plan. The PlayStation 3 is currently in the midst of its 10-year plan. And now it looks like the Vita will have a whole decade for itself, as well.

“We’re in year one, so we’ll be supporting it for some time,” SCEA VP of Hardware Marketing John Koller told IGN. “But yeah, it does have its own 10-year life cycle. All of our platforms do … it’s a marathon, not a sprint. We expect long-term success from all our platforms.”

It’s hard to tell at this point if interest in the Vita will increase. Yes, the platform isn’t all that popular right now, but it’s still an impressive device, and if Sony plays its cards right, it could have some late game success with the Vita. Quite frankly, I really hope the handheld does see more success, because that may persuade Sony to market the damn thing properly and release some games for it.
