New PS3 Model Drops Today

Sony’s latest hardware revision of the PlayStation 3 officially launches today. If you’re in the market for another console (or an updated version of a console you already own), you’ll now be able to snag yours at retailers.

As previously revealed, the new PlayStation 3 comes in two models: 250GB for $269.99 and 500GB for $299.99. But the model that Sony is currently advertising is the 250GB, as there is an Uncharted 3: Game of the Year Edition Bundle available. The set includes the 250GB PlayStation 3; a copy of Uncharted 3 along with all of its post-launch DLC; a voucher for Dust 514 plus $30 to spend on in-game content; and a voucher for a 30-day PlayStation Plus membership.

If you don’t already own a PlayStation 3, it’s hard to argue against this hardware bundle. For $269.99, you’re getting a shiny new console, 250GB of storage space, and one of the best titles on the system. There are even some digital goodies to boot. I’ll probably never buy this as I already own a PlayStation 3. But if you don’t already own it, or if you could use an upgrade, you should probably consider this hardware redesign.
