Details on the PS3/Vita Cross Buy Promotion Surface

It’s great to see stellar games like Sound Shapes sporting cross-compatible features on the PlayStation 3 and Vita. It gives gamers a chance to take their games on the go with them or play them on their sexy big screen TVs. But that’s all on the digital front. What about retail games?

As announced last week, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will be the first retail game to feature similar cross buy and cross play functionality. It looks like that won’t be the only game, however, because Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida recently tweeted that Sony’s cross buy promotion was headed to both North America and Europe.

Yoshida’s tweet was intended to clear up a bit of confusion that occurred following an Andriasang article that had a lot of folks believing this cross buy business would only be exclusive to Europe. Thankfully, that’s not the case. Unfortunately for Japan, the cross buy feature hasn’t been confirmed for that region. We’ll have to wait and see if Sony makes this a worldwide thing or just leaves it exclusive to North America and Europe.
