Update: A quick note to let folks know that the giveaway has come to a close as the 4th alpha test weekend recently wrapped up. As always, thanks for your participation!

We’ve teamed up with indie developer Mechanist Games to giveaway alpha keys to its promising browser-based MMORPG City of Steam.

With the alpha test entering its third weekend on August 3, this phase focuses on the goblin race. Those interested can snag a key simply by replying to this post — we’ll dispatch an email with your key and instructions on redeeming it (usually within a few minutes) to the address associated with your eXophase.com account.

If you’d like to learn more about City of Steam, embedded below is a gameplay trailer giving an overview of the gameplay mechanics, among other things. As you’ll no doubt find immediately apparent, the Unity3D-powered effort boasts very impressive visuals for a game that runs inside the confines of a browser. An ancient world rich in lore awaits players, fully realized in 3D with open-ended gameplay and plenty of customization.

How to redeem key

1. After getting your Alpha key, head to the City of Steam website here.

2. Register an account (or sign in if you already have one), copy/paste your Alpha Key, and click the register/sign-in button, then click on the ‘Play Now’ button and test out City of Steam’s Alpha release. It’ll run on the weekend of August 3-5, starting on Friday at 19:00 PDT (22:00 EDT) and lasting until Monday at 00:00 PDT (03:00 EDT).
