Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault Will Feature Tower Defense

Some interesting new info has been revealed regarding Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault, the upcoming downloadable entry in Insomniac’s long-running 3D platforming franchise. As announced on the PlayStation Blog, the game will feature a brand new tower defense element never before seen in the series.

Full Frontal Assault will offer all of the weapons-based gameplay that past entries became known for, all the while allowing players to build and reinforce their very own bases, which they must defend using their heavy-duty artillery. “This new twist, added to the classic Ratchet gameplay, brings a whole new level of strategy and decision-making to Full Frontal Assault,” said Insomniac’s James Stevenson.

It should be noted that Full Frontal Assault will not be a full-on tower defense game. Insomniac is hoping to revive the magic that the series is known for, all the while adding a new layer on top of the base mechanics, which could be really cool.

Additionally, Full Frontal Assault will introduce a new villain to the series, and players will need to take control of Ratchet, Clank, and Captain Qwark. Well, I’m sold. When does this thing come out? Oh, that’s right, later this year. Until then, I guess we can keep busy with Ratchet & Clank Collection, due out for PlayStation 3 on August 28.
