Campaign in The Last of Us Will Not Feature Co-Op

Naughty Dog has confirmed that The Last of Us will feature a multiplayer component. That said, while co-op in general hasn’t been entirely ruled out, the studio has made it clear that there will not be any co-op functionality in the game’s main campaign. Speaking with Gaming Examiner, Creative Director Neil Druckmann said, “We are supporting multiplayer with The Last of Us. We’re not ready to talk about the details of how multiplayer will be implemented, however we can say that it is not co-op within the main campaign.”

The Last of Us is shaping up to be a must-watch title on the PlayStation 3. Sure, a co-op campaign would be nice, especially since there are two protagonists, but even without such a feature, Naughty Dog could really deliver a pleasant action-adventure game.

It’s going to be interesting seeing how the studio implements mutliplayer into The Last of Us. Will there be a standard online mode? Will some other co-op mode apart from the main story be included? I personally think there are going to be Move-enabled mini-games. Just kidding! I really don’t think that will happen. And God I hope it doesn’t.
