Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Gets Patched … After Three Months

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City wasn’t exactly a great game when it launched. Hell, some folks may even argue that it wasn’t even a good game when it launched. The problem was that Operation Raccoon City had too many bugs, and the AI was absolutely abysmal. Luckily for gamers who have stuck with it, Capcom is finally patching the damn thing.

After three months, that is.

It’s pretty ridiculous that it’s taken this long to fix some major game-breaking bugs, especially when Operation Raccoon City actually had all the potential in the world to be great. Not to mention it was supposed to tide people over until the launch of Resident Evil 6, as well as provide an alternative experience to the main Resident Evil titles. A lot of gamers will argue that Capcom is out of touch, and that the publisher has become accustomed to releasing games that are incomplete. Personally, I’d have to agree with those statements.

If for some wild reason you still give a damn about Operation Raccoon City, you can check out the fixes from the latest patch below, straight from Capcom-Unity:

  • Improved matching. Easier to connect and added each user’s NAT info to main menu for easier troubleshooting.
  • Matchmaking from invites improved.
  • Ally AI improved
  • Enemy AI and responses improved
  • Adjusted various elements of weaponry, including ammo count, knockdown distance, weapon respawn times etc
  • Improved aiming/fire accuracy
  • Items can be picked up while dashing
  • Infinite CQC combo addressed (can’t string together endless attacks)
  • Players can take cover immediately following a dive
  • Also a fair number of bugs addressed

Ya gotta love the ambiguity of that last one.
