EA Boss: We’ll Be Gaming’s Greatest Company

Being no. 1 in terms of raw sales and revenue numbers isn’t Electronic Arts’ ultimate end-all goal. Oh no, EA has a much more ambitious goal in mind. Speaking to the Financial Times, company CEO John Riccitiello said that he wants EA to be known as gaming’s greatest company, similar to other media giants like Disney and NBC, which are both well-known in the animation and television industry.

I read a book on how every medium creates one great company: animation created Disney, CBS was created by radio, NBC by television.

Interactive entertainment is going to determine one great company and I think it’s this one. One of the reasons I’ve come back is to try to take it to the next step.

Good luck with that. I’d say greatness is measured by the quality of games, not quantity. Pushing a new Madden out the door every year with minimal enhancements isn’t helping.
