A new entry in the long-running Ratchet & Clank series has been officially announced by developer Insomniac Games. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, company CEO Ted Price revealed that Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault would launch for the PlayStation 3 “soon.”

The game, which is scheduled to hit the PlayStation Network “later this year,” will feature gameplay tropes both new and classic to the series. “We’ve returned to the series’ classic feel, camera, controls and weapons, while innovating and giving you a whole new way to play,” announced Price. “Even better, the addition of online features means you can experience Full Frontal Assault with your friends, so stay tuned!”

In addition to Full Frontal Assault, the Insomniac CEO also hyped up the upcoming Ratchet & Clank Collection, which will present the beloved series in glorious HD and cram Trophies for gamers to hunt down, due out this summer.
