Apple Steps Into Dispute Over The Big Apple

by Mike Bendel on April 7, 2008 @ 12:34 pm

Apple Inc., maker of the top-selling iPod and iPhone, recently filed papers with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office asserting claims of copyright infringement against New York City, otherwise known as The Big Apple.

Apple claims that the city’s GreeNYC logo clearly infringes on its trademarked Apple logo. The company is worried that New York City’s logo will ultimately confuse consumers and dilute the value of the Apple brand.

Okay, maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see the resemblance between the Apple logo and NYC’s GreeNYC logo. Not to mention the Apple logos are all shiny and glossy.

They are apples, and every apple looks like Apple's apple. Though i find it retarded, because who cares if a city uses an apple as a logo? Isnt like your iloser products sales are dropping.
