PS3 Firmware 2.17 Now Available

by Mike Bendel on March 12, 2008 @ 10:27 pm

Update 2: Sony confirms our assumptions. The update improves the operating stability of some online PS3 titles.

Update: Turns out no changelog was provided with the update. There doesn’t appear to be any obvious changes to the firmware, so until we receive official word from Sony, we’ll just have to assume this is a maintenance release including some minor bug fixes and tweaks. If you happen to find any changes let us know.

PlayStation 3 firmware 2.17 is now available for download on Network Update. No word on what’s new yet, but we’ll keep you updated.

Maybe they fixed the Army of Two freezing up issues.

It definitely fixed the "downloading game settings" error on COD4; at least for me. Before the update, had to wait about 10-30 mins to play online. After update, wait time=5 secs
