Sony Aims for At Least 500K PS Vita Unit Sales In First Three Weeks

With a plentiful launch lineup and a steady stream of post-launch titles in tow, Sony is hoping its big bet with the PS Vita pays off. To that end, that company has shed light on its sales targets for the North American launch. SCEA boss Jack Tretton told Reuters that he’d be “very pleased” if half a million units were moved in the first three weeks of availability.

For reference, the original PSP racked up 500K in unit sales during its first two days on the market.  While the 3DS struggled to pick up momentum at the $250 price point, there’s no question that the Vita has a stronger value proposition. Coupled with an ample marketing budget of 50 million, we think Sony will attain this goal easily.
