Xbox 360 HD-DVD Emulator Now Free

by Mike Bendel on March 5, 2008 @ 2:22 pm

Last year in December, Microsoft released an HD-DVD emulator toolkit for film studios and disc authoring companies to test out their projects before printing them off to an actual HD-DVD disc. The piece of kit carried a hefty price tag – $2,999 to be exact.

But now? It’s free, seeing as HD-DVD is dead and all. Those interested in tinkering around with the emulator for learning purposes can send a request for a download link over at Microsoft’s website. Refunds will be issued to those who previously had paid for the emulator in full.

whats the use of this when there is no more HD DVD's for printing, i mean toshiba has stopped manufacturing both the players and discs, unless M$ still thinks HD DVD will come back up from hiding.

And there are already people making Blu Ray software where you can tranfer homemade vids make menus and such then port it over to BR-D's. Oh well then again i think Regular DVD's will win lol Why because it's simple Blu Rays still hasn't gone down in price, and the discs are still expensive as hell, and every major studio still backs DVD's.

Also what if HD DVD being defunct was a gimmick to have everything marked to the lowest degree so everyone and their moms can afford one and will take that over the other format. *shrugs*
