Kojima: Blu-ray Disc Doesn’t Have Enough Space

by Mike Bendel on March 3, 2008 @ 9:43 am

In an interview with Famitsu magazine, Metal Gear Solid 4 producer Hideo Kojima expressed his strong belief that Blu-ray is still limiting on the size capacity front.

Kojima: I am not satisfied with the quality we can do [on Blu-ray disc] yet — there isn’t enough space.

Interviewer: Not enough space… on Blu-ray?

Kojima: Yes (laughs). Not enough space.

Not enough space for one game on a 50GB disc? It’s almost hard to believe, but quite true if you actually wanted to leave all data on the disc, including video and sound files, completely uncompressed.

Multi. Disc. Games.

Jesus CHRIST. It's NOT that hard! Developers did it all the time during the PS1 era. Multi-disc games in the last- and current-gen are few and far between. It makes me sad...

Yes, but I think they don't like that idea since it's probably less convenient for them.
