Hong Kong Swamped By PS Vita Pre-Orders

While it remains to be seen how the PS Vita will stack up in sales against the 3DS and compared to its predecessor — the PSP, there’s been no shortage of activity on the pre-order front. According to a Joystiq report, “mobs” of people queued up at retail outlets across Hong Kong to secure their unit. Additionally, various internet shopping sites in the region buckled under high traffic loads.
Vita pre-orders opened up in the region last week, on Saturday. The anticipation mimics that of Japan — where retailers quickly filled pre-order allocations. The PSP sold exceptionally well in Asia territories, and if early buzz is any indication, it seems as if the Vita will maintain that momentum.
