i am new, what are POPs??? and what do they do for games? thanks!

JKing says:

Pops, Is a ps1 emulator...what does it do, well....its plays ps1 games on your psp...!! :p

ondjce says:

hahaha, ok thanks, i still new to this, thanks.

JKing says:

np dude, If you have any other psp questions... post em up.

Grasshyren says:

Ok, the instructions to this really weren't all that clear to me for this one. First off where do I download "the latest psardumper mod from team c+d".

Not sure if it will be self explanitory after I get the program or not but for good measure I'll ask, how do I "extract the firmware you desire using the "Decrypt all" function".

Thanks to all who contribute to an answer!

x3sphere says:

Its easy, but understandable since you've never used PSARDumper.

If you want to run 3.11 pops, you need to grab 3.11 EBOOT.PBP then extract the DATA.PSAR from the EBOOT with a program such as PBP Unpacker (can be found in the downloads section on this site).

Place the DATA.PSAR on your memory stick drive, and download PSARDumper 3.10. Move PSARDumper to your GAME150 folder (if you don't have one create it) then run the app. It will give you some on screen instructions but like it says just hit square to decrypt all.

This will give you all the files you need for the rest of the readme.

BTW I know it sounds easier if we just shared the files but they are Sony copyrighted so thats a no-no :)

Grasshyren says:

Yeah, that was another question I was gonna ask lol. But yeah at least it's good to know ya'll have your butts covered ^^.

JKing says:

You can download the new pops at HERE

Follow directions on that site, its easy.

dillame says:

im pretty sure i followed all the instructions correctly but i cant get my game to work..

not sure if it's my game, its castlevania symphony of the night (jp)..

so i used POPSconverter 1.6.. put the key and eboot in PSP/GAME/Castlevania

i extracted data.psar from the 3.11eboot, put it in the root and followed dark-alex's readme

i think its a success since i could enable the plugin in recover menu.

so i tried to run the game, i get to select which popstation version since its first run, i chose 3.10... then black screen forever

please help me out.. god i love that game

dillame says:

quick followup question, can i format the memory stick? the plugins are written to flash right?

x3sphere says:

no, they aren't. to me your problem sounds like it can't find the 3.11 files popsman311.prx, and pops311.prx

are you sure you copied them to the seplugins/popsloader folder?

dillame says:

mm.. i copied them from F0/kd

pops311.prx is 1021kb and popsman311.prx is 14kb

x3sphere says:

yes but did you put them in the seplugins/popsloader folder?

dillame says:

yes.. they're there ><

x3sphere says:

eh.. well did the game work before? maybe the iso is bad if not, I played through SOTN fine back on 3.03

you could just dump 3.03 firmware then use the pops from that. when you boot a game hold R through the warning screen to bring up the selection menu

EDIT: looking at your post again I found the problem, you selected 3.10 on the first run. Need to hold R when booting a game until the selection screen comes up then choose 3.11

dillame says:

opps =\ that was only a typo, i tried holding R and selecting 3.11

anyway, it was the game.. i dled another version to play and it worked

too bad that was the only japanese version i could find =\

is there a plugin for .. i.e game$hark codes?

thx so much for your help and amazingly fast replies

x3sphere says:

check out CWcheat ;)

JKing says:

When I played my Castlevania SOTN on 3.03 oeC...When ever I teleported over to the outerwall...(all the way to the right) and I went through the door, my psp would freeze...ALSO now that Im on 3.10oe...When ever I transform into the warewolf, and I run..there is a HUGE black trail behind me on the screen...As if I was running to fast for the game? did you have any problems like this?? :(

x3sphere says:

No, the game did not freeze once. Maybe you should try grabbing a different iso

JKing says:

Wanna list a few or maybe the one you found...When ever I look, for some odd reason...they all lead to the same iso.

x3sphere says:

dunno dude, I dumped it myself actually.

Ivory_Soul says:

Hello. You all seem like a nice bunch so I decided to turn here for help. I hope you can help at least. I'm trying to rip my own PS1 games to isos using the AutoPopstation 4 and for some reason when I use the AutoPopstation4.bat with the iso in the same folder it just closes. I'll type in a name and hit enter and nothing happens. I tried opening the iso in WinRar but it says it's a damaged or unreadable format. I also tried opening it up in Magic ISO and it saves it as a 32 kb messed up iso. What am I doing wrong here? I also tried making the iso in Magic ISO but it does the same thing. I just need to convert these isos to eboots so I can play them.

UPDATE: OK I converted a PS1 game to .bin and I used POPS Converter and it went into an eboot. I put it in PSP/GAME and all I get is a corrupted data icon...what am I doing wrong?

UPDATE #2: After hours of researching and fiddling I finally got it to work! I take the game off the CD with AutoPopstation 4 and then I use POPConverter and then I put the keys.bin and eboot in the right folder and it's good! I can't get autopop to convery any isos...it just says there was an error opening the iso...it's really annoying anyone know how to fix that?

mparrell says:

I am running 3.10' firmware but as many of you know Sudioken II doesnt

work with it so I got this new pops thing and did everything correct to decrypt the 3.02 firmware. however when i try to run the game after selecting "3.02" from the list i get game could not be started (80020001)

some one help me out?

x3sphere says:

have you named the files like this? meaudio302.prx, popsman302.prx, pops302.prx

Also try putting the game in GAME310 folder

kilemac27 says:

i did all the psar stuff but know where do i put the ps1 games?

what format do i use? iso, eboot?

do i put it into the game, game150 or whatever?

im pretty lost...

x3sphere says:

eboot, game folder.

kilemac27 says:

i have an iso, what do i use to convert it to an eboot, popstation?

x3sphere says:

Correct :)

kilemac27 says:

so i put the keys.bin and the eboot in "game"

do they have to be in a new folder?

do i need to rename anything?

anything else helpful would be cool...

thanks i am new to the custom firmwares i used 1.50

x3sphere says:

yeah they have to be in a new folder in GAME, just like other eboots.

kilemac27 says:

when ever i load a game i see some text about precautions and then the screen goes black when i press home i get the menu (quit game, assign buttons, manual, sett., and reset game) nothing else happens. the power light stays green and the the backlight changes wen i press the button so i dont know wat that means but maybe someone does...

questions...

do i put eboot and keys.bin in a separate folder (psp-game-gamesname-eboot,keys.bin)

or just (psp-game-eboot,keys.bin)

do some games not work, is that my problem?

im new to this if anyone knows a tutorial that is very precise and detailed that could help too

x3sphere says:

the folder structure should be like this PSP/GAME/NAME

then inside of 'name' is the eboot and keys.bin

and yes some games do not work so that may be the cause of the black screen

Slazerdude says:

look I have a psp version 2.81 at the moment im kinda of lost in how to get the psp firmware to the 3.1 custom firmware of darkalex

Can sum1 please help me? I want homebrew!!!

x3sphere says:

you need to upgrade to 3.03 then follow this guide:

http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=525

bakasora says:

im lost

>>>you need to grab 3.11 EBOOT.PBP then extract the DATA.PSAR from the EBOOT

>>>>>the 3.11 EBOOT.PBP, where do i get it from? from the PSP?

>>>Move PSARDumper to your GAME150 folder

>>>>>I download the "310psardumprelease.rar", i extract it, there are 5 files, i put the all 5 files in :/PSP/GAME150?

>>>Place the DATA.PSAR on your memory stick drive

>>>>>where exactly? :/PSP/GAME ?

thanks

x3sphere says:

Sony has a link to the 3.11 eboot on their site. You just put the two eboot folders in GAME150.

no, the DATA.PSAR goes in the root folder. X:/ for example

bakasora says:

yay thanks

now i can continue playing Suikoden II

tgunx2 says:

Hi,

I have follow all the questions and replies however i still cant figure where to get the keys.id and eboot.

Can someone illustrate this part of explaination further?

I am facing serious problems running plenty of ISO which run well on dh0.46

Runiko says:

Is there an up-to-date compatability list for POPstation 3.11? Mostly because I want to know if Sony has fixed the problem with running Suikoden II where the game freezes at the first boss, not to mention FF8 not running and Chrono Cross crashing at certain character joinings.

Many thanks!

EDIT! : Actually, I found a great website linked off of these very forums. For everyone that may ask this same question that I did, a great website to check out is here: http://playstage.cybervolution.com/

NintendoGuy says:

Do it works with the: 3.30 OE A?

x3sphere says:

unfortunately no.. he has plans to bring back support for popsloader in a later update though.

NintendoGuy says:

Damn it!

So... In others versions like:

3.30 OE-A' or 3.30 OE-B can be a popsloader suport?

But... Are the more PSOne compatible games with this new firmware? Like, if we didn't need the Popsloader... Or with this new firmware the PSOne compatiblity is very small?

(because of this non working of 3.30 OE...)

x3sphere says:

well I have already heard reports that 3.30 OE has fixed some bugs in FF7 and Chrono Cross. So yes compatibility seems to be on the up

and yeah look forward to popsloader support in a later update.

Tenshigami says:

I seem to be able to use popsloader no problem in 3.30 OE-A. Which seems odd as the Man himself (Dark_Alex) said it doesn't in the readme.

NintendoGuy says:

People, I found it:

http://dl.qj.net/LOLstation-POPS-Fix-(3.10-3.30OE)-PSP-Homebrew-Applications/pg/12/fid/13543/catid/151

It's 'lolstation' a 'popsloader' for 3.30OE-A

Is it good?

Tenshigami says:

Err..Uhm...No. Quite different, actually. LOLstation fixes an error that occurs by making a custom coldboot or debranding the gameboot. (If the previous sentence confuses you, LOLstation is not for you.)

popsloader lets you load any version of pops on any OE firmware (provided it works). Dark_AleX himself, the man who made popsloader AND the OE firmwares, says it doesn't work on 3.30 OE-A. I haven't had any problems, however. :confused1:

NintendoGuy says:

Hey! And now? Do it works with 3.40OE-A?

Tenshigami says:

It still does for me. I don't know about other people.

But whether it works or not, 3.30 is not on the popsloader's menu.

milkyway says:

hi, still cant do anything with Original FW 3.10? im still stick with 3.10 and need to buy original UMD very expensive.:crying:

x3sphere says:

nope, no solution for FW 3.10 yet. if there is one you'll know about it

karasuman says:

This was very helpful...but I'm still having trouble.

I followed all of these steps, and then all of the steps in the Read Me:

Just to clarify that I'm doing the exact right thing, here's what I did in greater detail. I put the seplugins folder in MP_ROOT. I renamed the fildes popsman311.prx and pops311.prx and placed them in se plugins/popsloader. Then, I entered into the recovery menu and selected plugins. However, this is empty--it just says "back." There's nothing for me to enable.

What am I doing wrong? :-/

Also, which of these files will I be able to delete if I ever get this to work?

EDIT:

I didn't realize that this was in the news forum instead of the help forum. I'm sorry! I don't know how to delete this post, but I'm going to at least copy it and repost it in the right area.

Shingo says:

i try to put my ps1 game that i convert, but i have dark screen.

i am in 3.40 OE, so this possiblee for me to play on french game (final fantasy 8 to psp) or not?

i have not the option for enabled POPs in my recovery menu, why?

Cheezeball99 says:

Because you do not have the Popsloader plugin installed, man. It won't show up unless you actually have it.

CrYpT says:

does this work on 3.40 oe? cuz some my games dont work sence i upgraded from 3.03 oe-c to 4.40 oe-a

Cheezeball99 says:

I had the same problem, it's because any OE higher than 3.03OE-C the ISOs need to be converted differently. You'll have to reconvert your ISOs with PSX2PSP v1.2.

Crocomire says:

so is popsloader supposed to work on 3.40oe? got the plugins folder where it should be, enabled it in recovery but i can't get any responce from it, it was the same with cwcheat, any ideas?

RJC4LIFE says:

Try holding R when you load up your game.

moose187 says:

i have a iso image file for a ps1 game and i was told that a popsloader will make it inoto a eboot but i really dont have a clue how and what i need... help a noob

x3sphere says:

No, popsloader isn't for making EBOOTs.

Use PSX2PSP, available here:
