Grand Theft Auto Movie Was Almost A Reality

Variety journo Ben Fritz is reporting that a movie adaption of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto was actually planned at one point. Citing unnamed sources, Fritz reveals that a deal was being negotiated with one of the six major film studios and rap artist Eminem.
While the deal was close to completion, talks between Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two and this major film studio reportedly broke down at the last moment. Reasons are unknown, but I’m sort of glad the deal didn’t go through. As we all know, movies based on video games are rather notorious for being awful.
