McDonalds Boss Blames Childhood Obesity On Games

by Mike Bendel on January 8, 2008 @ 11:53 am

McDonalds UK chief executive Steve Easterbrook said in a recent interview with the Times Online that games are a primary cause for the increasing rates child obesity.

While Easterbrook admitted that the food and drinks industry share responsibility for the obesity crisis, he further pointed out that games are a major problem, noting that “kids are sat home playing computer games on the TV when in the past they’d have been burning off energy outside.”

First, I find it painfully ironic that this is coming from a McDonalds exec of all people. Secondly, it’s hard to directly blame games. Parents should limit the time their children spend time playing games.
