Alternative VSHMenu 3.0

by Mike Bendel on December 11, 2007 @ 12:28 pm

Reader Fadil tipped us off today to let us know that homebrew developer Red Squirrel has released Alternative VSHMenu 3.0, a custom firmware plugin that adds additional functions to the VSHMenu already included in M33.

These additional functions include the ability to change the background color as well as take a screenshot of the XMB. Without further ado, here is the changelog for version 3.0:

Version 3.0

-Fixed problems with USB device setting when UMD9660 were selected.
-Last USB Device chosen will be saved, so at PSP reboot default USB Device will be last one chosen.
-Changes to CPU and BUS frequency will be applied immediately on menu closing, without requiring console reboot.
-Add UMD-VIDEO function (like M33 VSHMenu)
-ISOs in ISO/VIDEO directory will be checked on every VSHmenu beginning, so changes (adding/removing ISO) will be realized immediately without requiring console reboot!
-Now pressing again the “start” key VSHMenu will close itself.

Hi, I don`t understand any of plugins, for the 3.71 M33 does not work for me. I enabled this plugin in the recovery, but it does not. I don`t know what to do help me please.

x3sphere says:

So you enabled the plugin in recovery? You need to press HOME while in the XMB to activate it (according to the readme).

Alberto says:

i do that, but it doesnt work

x3sphere says:

Don't know what to tell you. I just tried it and it works fine. Try upgrading to 3.71 M33-3.

Alberto says:

my firmware is 371 M33-3

RJC4LIFE says:

Any plugins work for you? It may be your mem stick.

Alberto says:

no, i have tried not one, but they don`t work. My memory stick is Lexar 4GB Gaming edition special for PSP and PS3

x3sphere says:

Ahh... that is why. Most plugins will not work with Lexar sticks due to slow read speeds.

Alberto says:

ohh, you were write, i tried with original 1GB Sony PSP MS and it worked

RJC4LIFE says:

Sorry then, I have one of those as well..It hates plugins..

Alberto says:

shit, but thanks for helping me understand.

RJC4LIFE says:

It's ok, I was pissed when I found out that I bought my 4GB Lexar and couldn't use plugins..although when I first got it I could use them..but then not.I just bought a Sandisk 4GB (solid) one and no problems..now the Lexar just holds almost 4Gb of my emulators and roms.

chemist says:

Once you use a plugin whats the best wai to take it off?

XsavioR says:

in the recovery menu , set it to off.

RJC4LIFE says:

Couldn't this be incorporated into M33's vsh? And how hard would it be?
