New PSP Battery Coming Soon

by Mike Bendel on November 27, 2007 @ 10:23 pm

Well, not really “new.” It’s the same 3.6v 2200mAh battery of old, but this new battery pack comes with two custom covers in Piano Black and Ice Silver to house the larger battery in Slim (PSP-2000) units. The 2200mAh battery effectively doubles the battery life on the new Slim model. Of course, as with the original extended life battery pack, this battery is compatible with regular PSP-1000 units as well.

According to Mr. Koller over at the official PlayStation Blog, the new battery pack will be available come mid-December, retailing at an MSRP of $44.99.

Ummm.... ok, but I would think that they should sell just the backing for the PSP for all those who have the original extended battery. just a thought

x3sphere says:

Agreed... hopefully they plan on releasing standalone covers at a later date.

TimTiger says:

They could actually make a killin if they would charge $5.00 for the individual covers

shadowthor says:

They probably made this battery pandora proof as well.

frosty5689 says:

44.90? that's a rip i rather get the custom cover+ a 3600mAh other company made battery-.-

XsavioR says:

I dont think the battery would function with out the use of the chip. One way or the other it should work. The way they did it the first thing the psp checks is the battery on boot.

It would be really easy to check.. figure out which pin is i/o and not _\+,, break it off lol, test.

I havent tried it for obvious reasons. But my guess is something other then normal operation.
