Xbox Live Steps Towards Social Networking

Reminder: the 360 Fall Update launch is drawing near, November 4 to be exact. In light of the impending release, Microsoft has detailed one the main features that will be a part of the update. It’s called “Friends of Friends,” a MySpace-esque social networking feature that will allow Live users to browse the friends list of other Live subscribers.

Of course, this does bring up privacy concerns but don’t worry – Microsoft has everything covered. Subscribers under the age of 18 will only be able to make their friends list public to other friends, while those under the age of 13 will have friends list sharing automatically blocked.

If by chance you’re 18 or older and still would like to keep your friends list private, Microsoft is pointing Live users to the Friends of Friends website, where you can turn the feature on or off.

And that’s not all. There’s still more Fall Update goodies that have yet to be revealed, according to Microsoft.
