PlayStation Network director Eric Lempel has confirmed over at the official PlayStation.blog that PS3 firmware 2.01 is due for release within a few days. According to Lempel, it will be a relatively minor update designed to “improve the stability of PlayStation 3.”
Firmware 2.00 is known to have some issues regarding stability. Various PS3 users reported experiencing system lockups and disc read errors, among other system performance problems, after installing the latest firmware update. Sounds like the upcoming update may alleviate these issues.
