No Wii DVD Movie Playback Until Next Year
by Mike Bendel on November 8, 2007 @ 12:10 pm

Sorry folks, but Nintendo has no plans to release an updated Wii model this year with DVD movie playback. While Nintendo originally planned to release the model in the second half of 2007, in order to increase Wii production numbers as much as possible, the plan had been scrapped.
A 2008 release is possible, but Nintendo isn’t giving any promises. Oh well, does it really matter? I mean, who owns a Wii that doesn’t already have a DVD player in the house? I guess for convenience’s sake DVD playback would be nice, but that’s about it.
