Crysis Remastered Hitting PS3, 360 This October

by Mike Bendel on September 8, 2011 @ 10:53 pm

Crytek is bringing its once PC-exclusive system killer Crysis to consoles. Yes, you read that right. It’s referred to as ‘Crysis Remastered,’ promising better lighting and effects.

It’s unclear what compromises have been made, if any. Judging from the footage, which is running on Xbox 360, it’s looking comparable to the PC original at near High settings — albeit at a lower resolution. Despite just being announced, the game is due out this October. That’s next month.

If it's missing crepuscular rays, I'm not interested. I'm not interested anyway since I've bought the game twice already to be honest but it would be interesting to see how it's limited by consoles.

I'm interested to see how it looks and plays on consoles but I won't be buying it or anything.

More news: it will be priced at $19.99/1600 MS Points and is a digital download only.

Trigun says:

Ouch, there goes any chance i'll be buying it. Yeah, they are just trying to make a quick buck. They probably using CE3 experience to quickly get it operable on those 2 systems.

So, No Physical release. Not even a chance i'll be buying it. And here I WAS thinking about how neat it may look on my shelf with other games. But nope.

And this is not like something like Virtua Fighter 5 which is a much MORE NICHE of a game, so there is no way they can justify not making physical copies.

Looks pretty good, I'd say it's a mix of high + med settings. Hopefully the performance stacks up.

I'm just glad more people will be able to experience Crysis. It's one of the best shooters in years. Crysis 2 pales in comparison to it IMO.

Trigun says:

I'm more partial to Crysis 2 myself. *shrug*

It does look pretty damn impressive for the hardware though and I still wish it had a physical release.

Adiuvo says:

View distance took a major hit, but otherwise that looks pretty good.
