EA: Vita Stands A ‘Better Chance’ Than 3DS

EA is feeling encouraged over the PS Vita, with EA Labels president Frank Gibeau stating that the publisher believes Sony’s upcoming handheld stands a ‘better chance’ of success compared to Nintendo 3DS, despite the now-significantly higher price point. He pointed to a stronger launch lineup, social features, a ‘unique’ control scheme and technology as driving factors.

On the 3DS, Gibeau said there’s been ‘confusion’ over it, calling the title slate ‘different’ — likely alluding to the lack of big-name Nintendo franchises at launch.

“I think Vita has a better chance because it has a stronger title slate at launch. PSP’s had a great run in Europe as a device, it seems to have reached a much larger audience here than it did in North America. So I think they’ve got a good shot. We’re going to publish a few games on it and see how it develops,” Gibeau told CVG.
