IGDA To Investigate L.A. Noire Dev Team Bondi Over Allegations of Poor Working Conditions

It’s a common theme: working in the games industry at times can be grueling, especially when it’s crunch time on a triple-A title. But did L.A. Noire developer Team Bondi cross a line?
According to a Develop report, the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) plans to launch an investigation into the Australian-based studio, following allegations of poor working conditions throughout the lengthy seven year development cycle of L.A. Noire.
While prepping for a press demo, one Team Bondi dev recounts to IGN that he was working 15-hour shifts for 3 weeks, only to discover that said demo was never shown off. Additionally, half of the material he worked on during those 3 weeks ended up being entirely reworked.
The IGDA is quite appalled over the report, stating that the firm is conducting an ongoing investigation, encouraging employees to respond with their experiences.
“We encourage any Team Bondi employee and/or family member to email qol@igda.org with comments about the recent past and current situation – positive or negative” said Brian Robbins, chair of the IGDA Board of Directors.
Released to critical acclaim, L.A. Noire hit shelves in May. A PC version is due out this fall, with Rockstar Leeds handling development.
