L.A. Noire Is PC Bound, Coming This Fall

by Mike Bendel on June 23, 2011 @ 9:31 am

After Red Dead Redemption skipped PC, many thought Rockstar’s crime-solving romp L.A. Noire would suffer the same fate. Turns out that’s not the case. The company sent word that Rockstar Leeds is hard at work on a PC version of the title. It’s not a straight port, either, several key enhancements are promised:

“It will run on a wide range of PCs and feature customization, including keyboard remapping and gamepad functionality to both optimize and customize the performance and user experience. Along with increased fidelity and improved graphical enhancements, the PC version will feature 3D support for an even greater sense of interaction and immersion within a painstakingly detailed 1940s Los Angeles.”

The core gameplay of L.A. Noire, reminiscent of point-and-click adventures of old, is undoubtedly well suited to PC. It’s due out this fall.

Ehh... PC gamers will still bitch that it's not exclusive and thus doesn't take advantage of the platform... *rolls eyes.

x3sphere says:

Probably. Just like a bunch of people complained about GTA IV not being optimized, when it's one of the best looking games on PC.

GPUX says:

Great news.

MenaceInc says:

The main issue with GTA4 was that it came out when most gamers still used dual-core and even single core CPUs. The massive sandbox game that it is really was CPU bound and more cpu cores really helped. Even for myself, moving from a dualcore AMD 7750 to a quadcore AMD 955 really helped with making GTA4 more playable while the GPU stayed the same.

KurianOfBorg says:

It was unoptimized, regardless of how it looked. The patches improved performance by over 30%. The rendering quality is still crap with terrible clipping and flickering. I hope this is also sold for $10 here like GTA IV.

People just can't bear that their old E8800 can't run things anymore. Or their old 9800GTX. I've never understood people complaining when they have old hardware.

KezraPlanes says:

I have old hardware, I can run games fine and I don't complain.

Why can't we all get along? D:

That said, I need to upgrade my desktop. 2GB of RAM is SO 1999. I need to boost it up to at least 4GB... And then get a 1TB HDD. CPU and GPU will come later, when I do get a job xD

Trigun says:

This.

MenaceInc says:

Actually, 64MB of RAM would have been more like 1999.

KezraPlanes says:

I know, I was trolling. I was trying to sound conceited : (
