Take-Two Not Finished With Duke

While the perpetually delayed Duke Nukem Forever hasn’t won critics over, garnering a low 50 average on Metacritic, publisher Take-Two isn’t about to call quits on the franchise. Company CEO Strauss Zelnick has told Forbes that future Duke IP is coming, eventually:

We don’t really talk about it in detail but you will see future Duke IP coming from this company.

Part of it is the economic opportunities that interact with entertainment are so huge. Part of it is that we are very creative folks in control. Part of it is we don’t want to ever be in the position of dumping something down just to make another buck.

No timetable on when we’ll hear more was provided. Given Duke’s history, that’s probably for the best. It’s possible that Gearbox may pick up the mantle yet again, as it was working on a spin-off entitled Duke Begins, which was later put on hold when the Take-Two and 3DRealms lawsuit broke out.

At any rate, if you enjoyed Forever or just want to give the 90s ass-kicking hunk another chance, consider this good news.
