Crytek Backs Wii U With CryEngine Support

Once a PC-focused studio, the middleware wizards over at Crytek developed CryEngine 3 as a way to ease the process of developing across multiple high-definition platforms — namely PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Given the Wii U is also HD-ready, it’s not surprising to see Crytek pledge its support for the 2012-bound platform. CryEngine for Wii U is “definitely” in the works, according to company frontman Cevat Yerli.

“Crytek’s support for Wii U is definitely going to happen,” Yerli told Develop.

He added, “We aren’t showing it but we are pretty much running it already. [We want CryEngine to support] every platform that’s a major player in the industry of gaming.”

With the combined support of Epic Games, it’s safe to say that the Wii U won’t suffer the same fate as its predecessor when it comes to core offerings.
